Elli had been working as a waiter since 2008. In 2017, when the restaurant closed, he found himself unemployed at the age of 74 and struggling to get employers to consider him due to his mature age.
After eight months of job-hunting, Elli connected with Jobs Victoria Partner Jewish Care. He attended a Tools and Techniques for Jobseeking workshop and was provided with one-on-one support to improve his resume and job-seeking skills.

Elli working as a traffic supervisor
He did not have any luck getting back into the hospitality industry but an opportunity for a new career pathway opened up.
He was successful in landing a role as a traffic supervisor with the City of Port Phillip, and each morning and afternoon he helps children to safely cross the road near a school.
Elli has quickly become a well-known and valued local character in the community where he works.
