After 30 years of working in the automotive industry, Simon was ready to make a difference in the community.

The ability to work flexibly in the care sector and be paid to study for a qualification gave Simon the confidence he needed to take a step into something new. Simon attended a Jobs Victoria recruitment event, was matched with a local employer, and started in a new career as a disability support worker.

Now, every day is different. From taking a client to the swimming pool to help with some hydrotherapy, to making a day trip to the city, Simon is proud to make a positive difference to his clients’ lives. In fact, he’s even got a nickname… ‘Captain Positive’!

“It’s well worth doing, especially if you’re a people person and you want to make a difference.”
