Shylee Corrigan hails from Central Queensland and lives in Warrnambool. In 2017 she was referred to Jobs Victoria Partner Worn Gundij for support services to assist her to find employment.
“I was really lacking in a lot of confidence because I was an early school leaver and didn’t have any qualifications. Worn Gundij helped me overcome my self-confidence issues by engaging me in volunteering.”

With this renewed confidence Worn Gundidj supported Shylee into an administration and reception role with Gunditjmara Aboriginal Co-operative in Warrnambool, a community-run, community-led organisation providing health, family and community services to the local Aboriginal community.
CEO Ashley Couzens says Jobs Victoria and Worn Gundidj assist him by offering a pool of Aboriginal candidates for the organisation.
“It’s always a challenge for Aboriginal organisations around recruitment We have a clear vision in our strategic plan around building a really qualified Aboriginal workforce.”
“In this role we are providing Shlyee with professional development and support and also ensuring that she is culturally and spiritually strong as well.”

Shlyee will soon be undertaking a Diploma that will help her to progress further in the health and community services sector.
Shylee loves the culture of her workplace and encourages others to seek support when they need it, because there is always someone who can help.
