Opportunities
Take your first step into a local government career. A range of rewarding traineeships are available in local councils across metropolitan, regional and rural Victoria. Jobs are available in administration, including information technology, human resources and customer service.
These are ‘earn and learn’ jobs where you’ll do paid local government work while training for a relevant industry qualification.
You’ll get:
- 12 months’ secure employment
- free TAFE and other industry-relevant training leading to a qualification
- an income at or above the award rate
- individual mentoring
- support to buy necessary work equipment, tools of the trade, personal protective equipment, uniforms and course materials.

Are you aged 18 to 29 and from a multicultural background? We’re offering internships with some of Victoria’s leading businesses. Internships run for up to eight weeks and can give you the experience you need to kickstart your career.
Up to 12 weeks’ post-internship support is also provided.
Jobs Victoria is partnering with the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Youth Activating Youth (YAY) to deliver these internship opportunities.

We’re offering paid traineeships in business, finance and work health & safety roles in the building and construction industry. These are ‘earn and learn’ opportunities, where you’ll get on-the-job experience and a free qualification. Roles are available across Victoria.
As a trainee you will:
- be paid from day one
- gain valuable experience working on major infrastructure projects
- complete on-the-job training to gain a nationally recognised qualification
- receive additional support including individual mentoring and assistance with the purchase of necessary equipment and course materials.
