5 May 2017

Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan visited young workers at the Marriott Hotel and praised Jobs Victoria for getting more people into work by breaking down barriers to employment, and giving them the skills and training they need.

Jobs Victoria Partner Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is helping homeless, culturally diverse and Aboriginal jobseekers get the skills they need to work in some of Melbourne's high-end hotels. The SVA team has partnered with Jesuit Social Services to help jobseekers take up employment opportunities at CBD hotels including the Marriott and the Hilton.

Several young Victorians at the Marriott have now completed training to work in a variety of roles in the hospitality industry – including front of house, kitchen and housekeeping.
